Kintore waiting for summer to return
We love talking about the weather in Britain.
That's just as well because, this summer, there has been plenty to talk about.
Last summer we raved about the hot and dry summer, this year we are bemoaning
the cool and wet summer.

Kintore continues to grow
In the seven years since we moved to Kintore the
town has grown almost beyond recognition. Houses are sprouting everywhere,
business parks are appearing left, right and centre.

Concerns about re-opening of the Kintore knackery
Like any Kintore citizen I am a little concerned by
the news that Oran Group want to re-open the Kintore knackery. Like many Kintore
residents I can remember days when we had to keep the windows and doors closed
and turn our backs on the great outdoors because the smell from the knackery was
so appalling.

Get out and vote!
Whatever way you look at it, the elections in a few
days time on Thursday, May 3 have to be the
most potentially momentous
for years. As such, it is important that
everyone who has a vote exercises their right and has a say in the make up of
the next Scottish Parliament and the new Aberdeenshire Council.

Is broadband being mis-sold?
Imagine you are buying a new car. Because you do
quite a bit of motorway driving you want one that will cruise happily at 70mph.
So a good reasonably-priced, economical model boasting a top speed of 80 mph
catches your eye.

Re: Six year wait for speeding signs over
Bemused dog walker responds: "The illuminated signs
flash the speed limit to remind drivers to slow down if, for example, they come
in from the 40mph speed limit on the south side and do not drop down to 30mph
when the speed limit changes. How naive can the authorities/experts be?

No more Kintore Festival?
Sad to see the item at the very end of the Kintore
Community Council March minutes (click the COMMUNITY COUNCIL link at the top of
the website) that there might not be a Kintore Summer Festival this year, due to
lack of volunteers willing to help with the organisation.

Reopening the knackery
Driving up the Tyrebagger behind a lorry bearing
the Oran Group name brought it to my attention that the group is hoping to
restart operations at the knackery, or rendering plant if you want to be posh,
just outside Kintore.

Was that winter?
After an incredibly mild winter, are the recent
snows the first and last of our winter 2006/07 or is there more around the
corner.

Finding out what our younger citizens want
We're told that Kintore is the fastest growing
village or town in Aberdeenshire, so it is perhaps not surprising that it should
have some growing pains. Are there adequate facilities for our younger
citizens?

"Why not" listen to NECR?
Good old NECR, they ensure that Kintore is right at
the heart of things for many an Aberdeenshire radio listener with their
broadcasting complex in our Royal Burgh.

Clydesdale Bank ATM fiasco - the truth?
According to reports in today's Press and Journal,
the real reason why the Clydesdale Bank ATM isn't open is because - according to
the new owners of the former bank building - the Clydesdale hasn't paid its rent
and the landlord is refusing access until it does.

Clydesdale Bank ATM
When the Clydesdale Bank closed their Kintore
branch (along with many others in rural Aberdeenshire) late last year, the
Australian-owned bank promised that they would keep the ATM operational. This
promise must seem a bit hollow to those who have found themselves staring at a
blank screen in recent weeks.
