Kintore waiting for summer to return


We love talking about the weather in Britain. That's just as well because, this summer, there has been plenty to talk about. Last summer we raved about the hot and dry summer, this year we are bemoaning the cool and wet summer.

We seem to forget that we had summer 2007. It was in April with day after day of blue skies and unbelievable (for April) temperatures.

I remember a month where the roof on the car was almost always down. Where we sat on the deck for breakfast and dinner. When we looked forward to what was sure to be a record-beating summer 2007.

I liked the comment of the BBC weather forecaster when asked if there was any prospect of better weather after a decidedly cool, wet and grey May, June and start of July. "Well it has to get better some time in the next few weeks, hasn't it," was the best she could muster.

Bring back April... all is forgiven.
