Concerns about re-opening of the Kintore knackery


Like any Kintore citizen I am a little concerned by the news that Oran Group want to re-open the Kintore knackery. Like many Kintore residents I can remember days when we had to keep the windows and doors closed and turn our backs on the great outdoors because the smell from the knackery was so appalling.

I am encouraged that while the old defunct business which operated the knackery seemed to flout regulations designed to contain nuisance, the Oran Group seem to be sending out more encouraging vibes about responsible management and investing in enclosures to contain any odours.

However, I do have concerns that standards are maintained.

Like anyone I would like some more reassurances that everything measures up to assure us of a nuisance free plant. The service is needed, but it must not be at the cost of our standard of living in Kintore.

No-one wants to return to the days of the infamous Kintore pong.
