City of Kintore?

With work underway on not one, but two, new business parks and new building gathering pace everywhere, oor wee Royal Burgh is growing rapidly. How long before it becomes the City of Kintore?

Work has recently begun on the two new business parks - one between the Midmill Business Park and the A96 and another down opposite Sunnyside, next to the old Midmill Filling Station.

That plan includes a new retail park and an extensive affordable housing development. The plans also include a new village green, on the opposite side of the frontage from the retail development.

Certainly, anyone who has been away from Kintore for some years would simply not recognise the place if they came back today.

But is it a better place than it was?

Well, having business parks does mean that there are an increasing number of people who actually work in the community. There was a danger that Kintore was going to become just a dormitory town for nearby Aberdeen. Having people who work in the town, rather than just staying overnight means that service businesses can be more viable.

Perhaps the new businesses may encourage some of the services which Kintore lacks at the moment? Anyone fancy setting up a filling station.... please?
