Six year wait for speed warning signs is over

Six years after the Kintore & District Community Council asked for speed warning signs to be erected, the new signs are finally in place.

The illuminated signs flash the speed limit to remind drivers to slow down if, for example, they come in from the 40mph speed limit on the south side and do not drop down to 30mph when the speed limit changes.

These types of interactive signs are proven to help people adhere to speed limit.

Why is sticking to 30mph in the centre of Kintore important. Well, read on....

The impact of a car travelling at 35mph is MORE THAN A THIRD (36%) greater than at 30mph. That's why, if we want to reduce the severity of pedestrian and cycle injuries we need to slow down in town - and children between the ages of 12 and 15 are statistically most at risk.
