Clydesdale Bank ATM
When the Clydesdale Bank closed their Kintore
branch (along with many others in rural Aberdeenshire) late last year, the
Australian-owned bank promised that they would keep the ATM operational. This
promise must seem a bit hollow to those who have found themselves staring at a
blank screen in recent weeks.
The Clydesdale Bank ATM is one of only two (to my
knowledge) in Kintore. The other is in the wall of the Somerfield supermarket.
The problem is that the Somerfield one is commercially operated and you will
find that you are charged for the privilege of taking your
money.
Not having a local, free, cash
dispenser is bad enough for someone like myself who commutes daily into
Aberdeen. When I need to get cash at the weekend, or in the evenings, it is a
pain. But, for those who live and work in Kintore, or for the elderly, they need
access to basic banking services locally.
