Farewell summer? September ends with scorcher.


There's a touch of autumn in the air now that we are into October. But the long summer continued to the very end of September.

You would have to be someone of a pretty negative disposition to complain about summer 2006 in Kintore. The sun has shone on us, the rain has been noticeable by its absence and the mercury broke records by shoving its way up to the mid 30s Centigrade.

This excellent weather continued through September, indeed literally to the end. Saturday, September 30 was a cracker of a day. Unbroken sunshine and summer temperatures all day.

Come Sunday, though, it was like the someone had thrown the switch. 'OK, that's enough, give them a taste of autumn!'

The skies opened and the rain came down and down.

Oh, well summer 2006 was good while it lasted. And, boy, it did last!
