Summer Festival shows the way to go
This message writer agrees with Mark Reynolds, that
the Kintore Summer Festival shows the way that we need to build community life
in Kintore - especially with the expansion of the town (another 93 homes just
approved for either side of Northern Road).
I'd like to agree wholeheartedly with Mark Reynolds
in congratulating the team behind the Kintore Summer Festival. The time I've
taken to put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard to be more precise) is not due
to any lack of admiration for their ends, just slothfulness on my
part!
There's a real danger as Kintore
grows so rapidly (goodness... another 93 houses just approved this week to go
either side of Northern Road!) that it becomes more and more of a dormitory town
for nearby Aberdeen. If we go too far down that line, Kintore will be literally
just a place to sleep. Work will be in Aberdeen. Shopping will be in
supermarkets on the way home. Leisure will be in the city.
Sleeping somewhere does not contribute a
great deal (other than snores) to the life of
Kintore!
So let's give all the backing we
can to Kintore initiatives like the Kintore Summer Festival. Let's kindle a
little fire of resourcefulness, creativeness and see if we cannot build a
vibrant, lively Kintore for the future.
More power to your elbows, fingers, or
whatever you do your organising with!
