What's the deal with the new Kintore railway station?

Marie wants to know what is happening about the proposed new Kintore railway station.

Not sure how to work this Web Log thing, but wanted to ask if anyone knew what the deal with the railway station was - are we getting one and if so when?

Marie,
You worked the Web Log thing just fine!

All we know is from the NESTRANS annual report for 2005, where it states it as part of the Aberdeen Crossrail plan. It details the proposal for a new station at Kintore as part of the "medium term" rail proposals. "Medium term" is suitably vague, but what does it really mean. We don't know - but "longer term" does have a timescale of "post 2011". The Scottish Executive say the cost of a new Kintore station would be about £2 million.

The thing to do, if we want the station sooner rather than later is:

1. Write to your local MSPs - Nora Radcliffe is the constituency MSP, among the list MSPs I would suggest contacting Nanette Milne (her office is just off The Square in Kintore) and David Davidson (he is the Tory transport spokesman). A full list of the six list MSPs is on the Scottish Parliament website. Explain why you believe we need the station and ask for their support.

2. Contact Kintore & District Community Council and suggest they take up the matter.

3. Consider setting up a campaign committee if you really want to push it further up the political agenda.
