In Britain we spend less on transport
than other countries - 50% less than the Germans and 33%
less than the French.

The offshore industry - largely based in Aberdeen and the North East and for which we have had so often been asked to shoulder the infrastructure - has pumped £175 billion in taxes into the UK Exchequer (at 2001 prices).
The 95,000 vehicles that are estimated to enter Aberdeen each working day are estimated to pay around £10 million per month in fuel and road taxes.
