The inaugural Kintore Summer Festival took place on the weekend of May 30 to June 1, thanks to the hard work put in by a committee of local Kintore folk headed by Kintore resident Mark Reynolds.

The weekend was blessed with excellent weather as the events kicked off with the highly successful "Young Eens Disco" on Friday evening, followed by a ceilidh and band night.

Saturday was at its summer best when the centre of Kintore was closed off for street performances and a rousing set from our very own Kintore Pipe band. This was followed by street theatre, skateboard displays and band gigs arranged by Chalmers Mackay School of Music.

In the Town House there was an art exhibition while in the public hall the Kintore Festival club entertained the children. The "Doric Fly" at lunchtime showcased traditional North East music and song with world renowned, champion Bothy Balladeer Frank McNally with Donald Craig with some local Doric stories and Dorothy Taylor from Kintore. there was a mini vintage car rally at the Station Hotel, and an open day at the fire station. In the evening Ruby Rendall and Soul Saxation lifted the rafters of the public hall.

The weekend concluded with a duck race on the Don, a service of thanksgiving in the kirk and the Buchaneers Jazz Barbecue at the Torryburn.
