What is kintore.org.uk?

Kintore.org.uk is a community website for the Royal Burgh of Kintore in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Is kintore.org.uk operated by the local authority, the community council or by a commercial company?

No. Kintore.org.uk was set up in 2000 by a couple who had recently moved to Kintore and wanted to do something for their adopted community. They bought the domain name kintore.org.uk and put together the website. They still run the site in their spare time.

Who funds kintore.org.uk?

Unlike many community websites, there is no public money spent on operating kintore.org.uk. The actual costs (such as the domain name, the server and other items) are partly covered by the advertising revenue generated on the site.

Does kintore.org.uk provide an information service for Kintore?

If we can help, then of course we will. But without full (or even part-time!) staff, it simply isn't possible to run around getting information to respond to people.

How can I get local help about Kintore organisations?

Look firstly at the directory or the links page and contact the organisation direct. If it is a local authority matter, contact Aberdeenshire Council.

I am researching my ancestry and I have a link to Kintore, can you help?

With no budget and limited technical skill we rely on free services and simple solutions that we can implement. If you can help us get round these issues we'd be delighted to hear from you!

I'm running an event in the Kintore area, can I get it listed?

Of course. Please send us the details. If your event is in Kintore, you can also send us a .jpg or .gif of any event poster you have produced.

I have some Kintore photos, are you interested?

Yes, we are always interested in photos of Kintore place, people and events. Send them along with confirmation that the copyright holder (usually the photographer) is happy that they are published on kintore.org.uk. Tell us the name of the photographer in the email, so we can mark them as their copyright. Send photos as .jpg or .gif files to webmaster@kintore.org.uk.

I would like to publicise a local organisaton can I do that?

Yes, just email the details to us and also submit details for the directory page. We may also be able to add a separate page to the website like that for the PTA or the Rotary. Again, we will be happy to discuss that with you.
