At the
time when the Offshore Europe Exhibition is about to open its
doors, the news that Aberdeen will finally have a direct air link
with Houston, Texas, starting in January is excellent news.
According to reports in today's Press and Journal the new direct will be operated by City Star using a 50-seat Boeing 757 with the fare for the ten-hour business-class-only flight to Houston being around £2,500 return.

Not only is this a great boost for the industry, as it battles against an inequitable tax regime, to retain its competitive edge it is surely good news all round for Aberdeen. Even for the environmentalists.
Taking two flights (there and back) to reach Houston surely has to be better for the environment than taking four flights to reach the USA?
FOOTNOTE: City Star airlines stopped trading before the Houston flights got off the ground.
