Road
Aberdeen
Aberdeen is about 2 hours 30 minutes drive from Edinburgh, about three hours from Glasgow and about nine hours drive from London.
The City of Aberdeen is still relatively welcoming for car users. There is on-street car-parking using the familiar pay-and-display system where you purchase a ticket from a nearby machine and display it in the vehicle.
Illuminated signs on the main roads into the central area of Aberdeen show the number of spaces available in each of the major car parks in the city centre.
Parking violations are now controlled by Aberdeen City Council wardens in their maroon uniforms. They have become known locally as the "maroon dragoons"!
